Healthcare Pest Reference

A national authoritative reference for healthcare pest control compliance. Maps the federal, state, accrediting body, and recognized authority requirements that govern pest management in U.S. healthcare facilities. Every requirement anchored to a primary source. Every fabricated or weakly-sourced claim that has been investigated and disconfirmed is explicitly labeled and excluded.

The reference serves hospital facilities directors, infection preventionists, risk and compliance officers, Joint Commission and CMS survey readiness teams, healthcare procurement officers, plaintiff and defense attorneys litigating healthcare pest matters, and pest control operators serving healthcare clients.

Phase 1 — Federal Regulatory Anchors

Phase 1 of this reference covers the federal regulatory tier and the Utah state regulatory framework as a depth prototype. Subsequent phases will expand to the other 49 states, additional accrediting bodies (DNV-GL, HFAP, CIHQ), the FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction, and the institutional credentialing landscape across acute-care, critical access, skilled nursing, ambulatory surgery, hospice, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and pediatric facility types.

Current Authority Pages

How to Use This Reference

Each authority page is a self-contained explanation of one regulatory authority. Pages include the verbatim regulatory text where publicly available, a plain-language summary, the facility types the requirement applies to, the documentation evidence surveyors expect, the citation pathway surveyors use, and explicit notes on any adjacent claims that have been investigated and disconfirmed as fabricated or weakly sourced.

Citations should be verified against the primary source for litigation-grade applications. The reference notes where primary sources are paywalled and institutional access is required for direct verbatim verification.

Methodology

Every fact in this reference is rated for source confidence and source tier. See the methodology page for details on the verification discipline, the source tier hierarchy, and the explicit list of fabricated claims that have been investigated and excluded.

The reference is maintained by Trenton L. Frazer, Board Certified Entomologist (BCE #B3413, General Entomology specialty), MS Entomology, University of Florida. See the about page for credentialing detail and the reference's relationship to the operator's other work.
